Combustion Laboratory

All energy conversion systems used in the aviation industry has a combustion chamber in common. Therefore, a necessity exists within the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics for reacting flow studies.

Combustion laboratory has been established in August 2010 within the Trisonic Research Laboratory (TRL).  This lab has a surface area of 55 m2 and can house two separate test sections at the same time. Room is equipped with pressured air (40 atm), natural gas, there-phase electricity and pressurized water connections.

Now and Future

In order to perform experiments this lab will be equipped with necessary items. Lab has been funded through two TUBITAK research projects and two ITU-BAP scientific research projects with a total budget of about 200k USD.
